Fire Chief Matthew R. Love

Fire Chief Matthew Love is a native of Colorado and has served with the Cimarron Hills Fire Department since December of 2008. Chief Love currently serves in the position of Fire Chief and has also served the Cimarron Hills Fire Department as the Deputy Fire Chief of Operations, and the Division Chief of Training. Chief Love has worked with many Colorado emergency service agencies to include the City of Colorado Springs Fire Department. Chief Love is in his fourth year of the United Sates Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, is nearing completion of a Bachelors Degree in Public Safety Administration, and holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science Technology.

Chief Love has spent several years as an Adjunct Professor for the Pikes Peak Community College, teaching a variety of Fire Sciences courses. Chief Love also teaches courses in Leadership, Customer Service, and Firefighter Safety throughout the state. Additionally, Chief Love writes for a national leadership publication and has multiple research papers published by the National Fire Academy.

Chief Love received the 2007 Safety Award from the Colorado Springs Fire Department for his creation of the Firefighter Seatbelt Safety Program, 25 Percent- Simply Preventable, which gained national attention after delivery at the National Fire Academy and the creation of a joint effort with Dr. Burton Clark of the U.S. Fire Administration in the promotion of the National Firefighter Seatbelt Pledge.

Chief Love’s career has been strongly focused on Firefighter Training and Departmental Training Program Management, building training programs for several Colorado fire agencies, and sitting on Colorado State Training Committees. Chief Love is a strong believer in the power of an organization’s Mission and Values. Chief Love has made it a priority for members of the Cimarron Hills Fire Department to share in organizational vision, and take ownership of the organization’s values and mission creation. Chief Love delivers presentations on “Shared Vision” for both fire and non-emergency service agencies.
