Deputy Chief Steve Conner

Deputy Fire Chief Steve Conner was born and raised in California’s Bay Area where he spent his childhood playing baseball, football, and swimming in the family swimming pool. Steve is married to his college sweetheart and they have two school age sons.

After receiving an Associate Degree in Fire Science, Steve began his firefighting career at the Treasure Island Naval Base in the San Francisco Bay. In 1991 Steve accepted a job with Fort Carson’s Fire Department where he has remained. While rising through the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, and Assistant Fire Chief, Steve served as the Training Captain, Training Chief, and Ft. Carson’s Coordinator for the National Fire Protection Association’s Health and Safety Program; Deputy Chief Conner takes fire fighter safety very seriously.

Additional accomplishments include instrumental participation in the design and implementation of the Training Committee, now known as the South Central Region Training Consortium, which creates and brings together a local forum for our community’s fire departments Training Officers. Deputy Chief Conner’s proudest accomplishment is receiving the Navy’s Life Saving Medal for saving the life of a 6 year old child.

Future endeavors include completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Management.
