Division Chief Gortner "Gorty" is assgined to the Operations Division, overseeing firefighter Training and Certification, Buildings & Grounds, annual Community Events, and the Wildland Program. Promoted to Division Chief in 2022, he began his firefighting career as a reserve-volunteer with Cimarron Hills FD in 1999 and has served as Captain since 2014. During periods of department transition, Division Chief Gortner has also taken on responsibility as both Acting Deputy Chief and Acting Fire Chief. While he found these opportunities rewarding, he feels called to serve in operations where he continues to mentor new firefighters and officers.
