The majority of our calls for service are medical in nature. These vary greatly from traumatic injuries to medical ailments to psychological conditions. All CHFD personnel are trained and certified to a minimum of EMT-Basic, able to recognize and treat the majority of medical situations that are encountered. Additionally, CHFD staffs Advanced Life Support providers, who are able to intervene with advanced procedures in many life threatening situations.
In addition to the displayed statistics, CHFD trains for and responds to less common call types such as drownings, burns, gunshot/stabbing, stroke, childbirth, cardiac arrest, etc.
