Fire Chiefs Oppose SB26-184

The Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs Council opposes SB26-184, urging protection for firefighters and communities in El Paso County, Colorado.

Today, Chief York, alongside the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs Council, joined fire service leaders across El Paso County in voicing opposition to SB26-184.

This letter reflects the concerns of fire chiefs and emergency service leaders regarding the potential impacts this legislation could have on firefighter cancer benefits, workers’ compensation processes, and the financial sustainability of fire districts across Colorado.

At Cimarron Hills Fire Department, we will always stand behind our firefighters, emergency medical professionals, and the communities we serve. We encourage our community members to stay informed and review the letter from the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs Council below.
