CHFD responds to various reports of hazardous conditions, from chemical spills to carbon monoxide alarms to odor investigations. All CHFD personnel are trained to the Hazardous Materials Operations level, which means we can recognize and contain most materials that are encountered. For hazardous material incidents beyond our capabilities, CHFD relies on local HazMat teams (El Paso County OEM, City of Colorado Springs, and U.S. Military) who have additional training and specialized equipment.
